Life Lately, in Photos

I came back to Texas 3 weeks ago because A) my sister was having a bridal shower and B) my Mexican visa had still not been approved and I figured I might as well wait it out in the company of my family. To be honest, I didn’t know if I would go back to Mexico, because one can only wait so long without a full-time job.

However, yesterday I walked out of the Mexican Consulate in Austin with everything I need to work and live, legally, in Mexico. I can’t claim to fully understand God’s timing in this situation, but I am thankful that He gave me this visa just when I was about to give up on it.

With my return to Mexico now on the horizon, I’m really thankful for the time I’ve had in Texas. Spending time with my family and friends has, as always, been refreshing and encouraging.

Here is what I’ve been doing:

Showering Hannah with gifts and love.

Listening to mariachis at the Hula Hut.

Taking sister selfies.

Celebrating graduations. My cousin Katelyn was having a party for hers, so we went over to their house to set up. I found it funny how hard at work everyone was: Hannah and my mom were baking desserts, Aunt Jeanie was arranging the flowers, Katelyn was setting up a photo display, and Aunt Julie was sewing Katelyn’s graduation quilt gift. That’s family at its finest!

Visiting Mexican supermarkets when I miss Mexico.

Drinking Sonic.

Seeing my very first hockey game with Bryana!

(Bad idea to get a frozen drink at a hockey game, by the way)

Walking in the park with Hilary.

Dining outside with my Dad in Georgetown.

Looking at art at the Mexican American Cultural Center

(A statue to commemorate Austin and Saltillo’s 40th Anniversary of being “sister cities”)

Learning more about my beautiful state/former country at the Bullock Texas State History Museum.

Eating fish and chips at the Dog & Duck Pub-these were some of the first I’ve had since Ireland and they were so fresh and delicious!

Reading and relaxing on my bed.

Cheering on the USA and Mexico at the World Cup.

Getting coffee at the new TOMS coffee with my college roommate, Emily. It’s crazy we’ve been friends for 7 years now!

Trying Hopdoddy, finally! It was right across from TOMS, so Emily suggested we walk across and order some fries. Not only did we order 2 different kinds of fries, but burgers as well. Everything was amazing.

Drinking coffee with my mom at Whole Foods.

Celebrating Father’s Day. I’m glad my dad got to see at least one of his daughters on his day, and selfishly, I’m glad it was me this year!
